Hello Happy Site Owners! First week of March and you’ll want to spring into this week’s tips. Got info on contact forms that you’ll definitely want to read and a new WordPress plugin that I’m very excited about.
Super duper post from Pam Moore, aka The Marketing Nut, with 12 Tips to Rock Your Blog this Week.
Fast and Secure Contact Form has been updated for the umpteenth time since the last WordPress release and it’s still not working. Had to jump ship on this one and switch to Contact Form 7. Glad I made that video tutorial on how to set it up.
Now, Contact Form 7 is free, and that’s one of the reasons I switched to it from the other free form plugin because so many of my clients are using it and I need to know how it’s working. But, there’s another form plugin I’m going to check out called Ninja Forms. They have a Lite and Pro version and taut they are the perfect form between Contact Form 7 and Gravity Forms (premium). We’ll see. I’ll keep you posted.
Plugins to Check Out
I have to tell you, I’m pretty excited about a new premium plugin called OptinSkin. See Pat Flynn’s video on it. Yeah, that’s an aff link on his site for it, but like me, he actually uses what he endorses. If it works out, expect to see it on my site soon too.
You’re First Blog Post Will Most Probably Suck! states Marko Saric on How to Make My Blog, and he’s right. Don’t worry about it, you’re in good company. Every blogger I hear on the BlogcastFM podcast that makes six-figures says they are totally embarrassed to read their first blog posts now. You just keep at it; you’ll see.
The tips in How to Easily Increase Time on Site Numbers in 3 Simple Steps by James Johnson on BloggingPro do work. I use them on BlogAid. But I’m not sure I’d call them easy or simple.
What Blog Readers Want is another super post by one of my fave bloggers, Stanford Smith.
Jump on this series now. It’s the beginning of a new series from Dana Lynn Smith on how to get more traffic to your site. It’s written specifically for authors, but trust me, it will work for any site. I know. I use her tips and they work for BlogAid.
Super guest post by Brad Shorr on Social Mouths on the fact that SEO is only half the picture and why An SEO Fixation Will Destroy Your Internet Marketing Strategy.
Good post by Rick Jarnette on Search Engine Land on the Nine Best Practices for Optimized Title Tags. You’ll want to pay particular attention to how you can get a little more SEO by coordinating your title tag and your page title H1 tag. Be sure to read the comments for reports of shortened characters in the SERPs.
Social Media Tips
Facebook is rolling out Timeline for business pages. They will become mandatory by March 30th. So, start preparing to update, but no need to jump onboard until you have to. See yesterday’s post Keeping Pace with Facebook and WordPress.
