Sexy Bookmarks Plugin Reloaded

Update 1/30/12 Sexy Bookmarks is changing everything. Even their old website links don’t work. Here’s the new one. http://www.shareaholic.com/publishers/get_share_button It looks like they removed the plugin from the repository and have folks registering to download widget code. But that’s not the same code as the one that goes below your posts and pages. They have a link to their plugin, which is what you want, but it goes back to the WordPress.org repository and is not there either. So, they must be updating that as well. I’ll keep on top of it and let everyone know about the latest changes. Thanks to LouAnn for catching this and letting me know!

WP video tutorialOne of the best ways to get your content to spread far and wide on the Internet is to make it easy for your readers to share it with their friends. The Sexy Bookmarks plugin by Shareaholic helps you do just that. It adds social sharing buttons and icons to your posts and pages on your WordPress site. There are a lot of great features in this plugin and this video tutorial will help you make the most of them.

I made a video on this plugin about a year ago, but a lot has changed on social networks including the Share and Like buttons on Facebook, the +1 button on Google, and the new up-and-comer Pinterest. The Sexy Bookmarks plugin has kept pace, but the settings and configuration has become a bit more complex too. In this video, I’ll show you all of the tips and tricks you’ll need to make this plugin a vital tool in online marketing strategy.

I have heard alot about this plugin, but I’ve been searching all day long and cannot find it anywhere. Is it gone now? I’ve searched the WP Plugins for sexybookmarks and shareaholic both and can’t find it!

Wow LouAnn, thanks for bringing this to my attention. Even their old website links don’t work. Great, now I’ll have to make a new video, won’t I? I’ll keep on top of it this week and put out a post as soon as they have everything available again. Thanks again for letting me know.

Thank you! I was just going CRAZY trying to figure out why I couldn’t get to it. And it looks like exactly what I want… so I was completely Bummed!

I just tried it again after watching your video (which is awesome, thanks) – I am on the Install Plugins page, search, Sexy booksmarks, hit the search button, and the Sexy Bookmark Sidebar Widget shows up, but not the Email, bookmark, etc. one! :(

  • Marc Connor says:

Well, now I wish I hadn’t removed it from one of the sites I did. I removed it after activating it because the sexybookmarks were on every page. Thanks for that insight!

Marc, I’m pretty sure they’ll bring it back. Just looks like they are taking a different marketing angle. If they’re going to continue to give it away, might as well collect user’s email addresses to promote more of their wares. They’ve been making a lot of marketing changes there since last summer when the placed that gold strip banner at the top of your admin pages. That really angered a lot of folks because there was no way to remove it for about a month and they were dodging it on their support forum. Let’s hope they learned their lesson about how easy it is to loose users.

  • In help section of Shareaholic, they answered this problem is temporary and will be resolved soon.
They provided this link (removed) to download this plugin alternatively.

Aditya, thank you for the reply. Could you provide a link that has not been shortened that I can verify first? Thanks.
